At Pure Smiles, we offer the following Sedation Dentistry Services:
- Nitrous Oxide Sedation: An inhaled gas that creates a feeling of calm and euphoria. Nitrous oxide sedation is ideal for children and adults with general dental fear and anxiety. As soon as the gas is removed from the patients face, the effects begin to wear off immediately.
- Oral Medication Sedation: Oral sedatives are fast-acting and create a very relaxed and euphoric state. Oral sedatives do not “put you to sleep” but many patients are so relaxed, they often fall asleep during their appointment. The effects of oral sedation last much longer than Nitrous Oxide, so it is very important to have someone with you until the sedation wears off.
- IV Sedation: IV Sedation creates the highest level of sedation. Patients are not “put to sleep” but they are very relaxed and will often have no recollection of their appointment once the medication wears off. IV sedation is recommended for people with severe dental fear and anxiety.
